The Arts Catalyst commissions art that experimentally and critically engages with science. We produce provocative, playful, risk-taking projects to spark dynamic conversations about our changing world.
Although we've now moved from our Clerkenwell space, we are busy presenting work across the UK. Watch out for our new London events and exhibitions programme starting in January 2014, our 20th anniversary year.
The Arts Catalyst is one of the UK's most distinctive arts organisations, distinguished by ambitious art commissions and its unique take on art-science practice. Our primary focus is commissioning new artists' projects, presented in a range of museums, art galleries and other public spaces in the UK and internationally.
The Arts Catalyst has commissioned more than 100 artists’ projects, including major new works by Tomas Saraceno, Aleksandra Mir, Critical Art Ensemble, Jan Fabre, Yuri Leiderman, Stefan Gec, Otolith Group, Beatriz da Costa, Kira O’Reilly and Marko Peljhan, and has produced numerous exhibitions, events, performances and publications, collaborating with major arts, science and academic organisations. The Arts Catalyst plays a leading role in the development of artists’ engagement with science, and critical discourse around this field.
Through our exhibitions and events programme, we enable people to have distinctive, thought-provoking experiences that transcend traditional boundaries of art and science.
Although we've moved from our Clerkenwell space to temporary offices in Southwark, The Arts Catalyst is busy presenting work across the UK - including SEFT-1 at AND Festival and Ice Lab in Manchester, and HeHe's acclaimed Fracking Futures was well-received at FACT, Liverpool in summer 2013.
Our London programme of exhibitions and events will start up again in January 2014, launching our 20th anniversary year, with a major exhibition 'Republic of the Moon' and space-themed events programme (including two Kosmicas and an artists' residency), as we take over the Bargehouse on the Southbank for a month of lunar art and science.
