Arts Catalyst Curator in Bangalore (blog)

Hi, I'm extending my activities as curator of The Arts Catalyst internationally and am based at Srishti College of Art, Design and Technology, Bangalore, India as curator-in-residence until mid-March 2008. This being Bangalore, I am more rather than less connected here and am continuing to develop projects with the Arts Catalyst team via mail and video skype.

In October I co-organised the Bangalore Space and Culture Symposium and as a result we are planning activities including a reader on India's mission to the moon, Chandrayaan 1 and the social and ethical dimensions surrounding this. We are also planning to launch India's first bio-art workshop and masterclass given by Australia's SymbioticA, in March 2008.

Indian artists I have met recently whose work has interested me include Ashok Sukumaran, Kiran Subbiah, Ayisha Abraham, Yashas Shetty, Vivek Vilasani.

On December 14th I am taking part in a workshop on Technology Governance and Citizenship at the Indian Institute of Management . I will be reflecting on problems of autonomy facing artists working in scientific research environments and commenting on a paper shortly to be published by Nicola Triscott in Engage Journal on this subject.
