Commissioned by The Arts Catalyst & SPACE Public field-trips and study days led by Brandon Ballengée during 2007: Deformed Amphibians Fieldtrip Saturday 14 July 2007, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Wakefield An investigation into deformed amphibians in the ponds at Yorkshire Sculpture Park Ecoventions: Art & Ecology Study Day Sunday 15 July 2007, Gunpowder Park, Essex This study day, organised by The Arts Catalyst with Gunpowder Park and SPACE, was designed to be of particular interest to artists wishing to develop their ecological-art practice and ecologists interested in working with artists to raise awareness of ecological issues. The day was led by American artist Brandon Ballengée, with urban ecologist Dusty Gedge and artist and photographer David Cottridge. Amphibians Study Fieldtrip Sunday 22 July 2007, Gunpowder Park, Essex Organised by The Arts Catalyst with Gunpowder Park and SPACE Insect Study Fieldtrip Sunday 29 July 2007, Gunpowder Park, Essex Organised by The Arts Catalyst with Gunpowder Park and SPACE Bug Party Sunday 30 September 2007, SPACE, 129-131 Mare Street, London E8 SPACE Studios in partnership with The Arts Catalyst hosted Bug Party as part of national arts initiative The Big Draw. Combining science and art in his investigations of insect life and amphibian species in the UK, Ballengées exploration of biodiversity and outdoor installation was the primary inspiration for this drawing workshop for all ages. Throughout the day, local Djs supplyied musical entertainment while graffiti artists created pieces that reflected the theme. Ballengée will led an urban bug hunt into the surrounding locality to discover the insect life of Hackney. |
