Laura Clarke is Arts Catalyst's Artistic Director and Joint CEO. Prior to her appointment at Arts Catalyst she was Curator at S1 Artspace in Sheffield (2017-19). Previously, she held curatorial positions at the Hayward Gallery, Barbican Centre, and Nottingham Contemporary. She holds an MA in Curating Contemporary Art from the Royal College of Art, and has a background in Fine Art. She is also a founding member of Basic Channel, a collaborative itinerant curatorial platform, and Associate Lecturer in Contemporary Fine Art at the University of Huddersfield. Her curatorial interests and research focuses on ecologies and the ways in which thinking and working across boundaries can shift how we understand the world. She is particularly interested in how organisations can support long-term, collaborative and evolving projects with artists, and the ways they can engage people in collective research and experimentation.
